Call for Student Volunteers

OPL-2026 conference is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and proactive students to join our Student Volunteer Program and help make the conference a welcoming, engaging, and successful experience for all attendees.

Student volunteers play an important role in supporting conference operations while gaining valuable experience working alongside researchers, academics, industry professionals, speakers, and fellow students from around the world.

As a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, we believe that students are the future of science, research, and innovation and are committed to supporting their growth and development. Through our Student Volunteer Program, we provide students with an opportunity to actively contribute to the conference, gain valuable professional experience, and connect with the broader scientific, academic, and professional community.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcome from motivated students, including:

Undergraduate students
Master's students
Ph.D. and other doctoral students

Students from all countries and academic disciplines relevant to the conference are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants should be:
Reliable, punctual, and organized
Enthusiastic and willing to help
Proactive and able to work independently when needed
Comfortable interacting with conference attendees
Proficient in English, with good communication and interpersonal skills
Committed to maintaining a professional and ethical approach

Selected student volunteers will receive benefits designed to make participation both rewarding and educational. Depending on the conference program and available support, benefits may include:

Volunteer Responsibilities

Student volunteers may be assigned a variety of responsibilities before and during the conference. Assignments will depend on conference needs and may include:

Event & Registration Support

  • Assisting at the registration and information desks
  • Welcoming and directing attendees
  • Providing information about conference rooms, sessions, and activities
  • Assisting with conference setup and breakdown
  • Helping with social events, poster sessions, demonstrations, and exhibitions

Room & Session Support

  • Monitoring assigned conference rooms
  • Assisting session chairs and speakers
  • Helping ensure presentations are ready before sessions begin
  • Reporting issues to conference organizers or technical staff

Audio/Visual & Technical Support

  • Assisting speakers with presentation and technical needs
  • Helping upload or prepare presentation files
  • Providing basic audiovisual support
  • Supporting presenters and session chairs during sessions
Volunteers may also be asked to remain available for occasional urgent or last-minute assignments to help ensure a smooth conference experience.

Volunteer Commitment

Student volunteers should be prepared to contribute during the conference period according to the schedule communicated by the organizing team.

Specific assignments and working hours will be shared with selected volunteers in advance. Volunteers may be asked to arrive before their assigned activity or session and remain briefly afterward to assist with preparation and wrap-up.

We will make every effort to ensure that volunteers have opportunities to attend conference sessions and participate in the conference experience while completing their assigned responsibilities.

Applications will be reviewed by the conference organizing team. Selection will be based on availability, communication skills, organizational ability, enthusiasm, reliability, and the overall needs of the conference.

Important Information

  • Student volunteer positions are limited and are subject to the operational needs of the conference. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection.
  • Selected volunteers will receive information about their assignments, schedules, orientation, and other requirements before the conference.
  • By volunteering, students agree to follow the conference's code of conduct, organizational guidelines, and instructions provided by the conference team.
